Harry M. Markowitz, PhD is best known for winning the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in 1990 for his work on portfolio selection. Recognized as the founder of Modern Portfolio Theory and one of the nation’s best known minds in finance, Dr. Markowitz is a professor of finance in the Rady School of Management at UC San Diego. He is also president of the Harry Markowitz Company and has also worked for companies such as IBM and the Rand Corporation.
